Whirlds
Our Stills Collections are surrealistic, drawing on unique and historic photographs we shot in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which passed over New Orleans and Louisiana in 2005. Ours was the only helicopter given permission to document Katrina, other than the live television broadcast chopper, so these still photographs are truly unique, one-of-a-kind.
Sometimes nature trumps art when it comes to rearranging the world around and beneath us. This was never more apparent than when flying over the scenes of devastation; an experience which deeply affected us.
This series shows the power of nature.
The whirls, from which our title WHIRLDS came and which references the whirling hurricane, were provided by us – Katrina did all the rest of the work.
